Tina Watson won $1,194 in the Catch the Ace draw. She chose Envelope No. 40 which contained the Five of Spades. Next week’s estimated jackpot is expected to reach $13,000. Remember you can buy tickets in person or on-line.

At the Saturday Meat Draw, Pierrrette Lalande was the double-dipper, and the winner of the 50/50 draw was Marg Culleton who took home $122!

Make sure to drop into the Legion Bar if you wish to buy tickets available for any of our upcoming October or November events.

At the Fall Dinner and Dance, Oct. 4, it will be a turkey dinner and music will be by Midnight Special Dance Express. This is a five-piece band, playing 1960s and ‘70s tunes, so it promises to be a fun night! You can check out Midnight Special and hear its music at www.midnightspecialband.ca. Tickets for this event are $35 each, which includes both dinner and entertainment.

As well, there are still some tickets left for our Oct. 12, An Evening with Psychic Kelly Elson; and our Nov. 30 event; the annual Lulu’s Band Hootenanny.

Last week, we mentioned that the Legion made a $1,000 donation in support of Huron Shores Hospice for the Handbags for Hospice event. This week, the big cheque was presented.

Congratulations to the four golfers who played in provincial tournaments in Seaforth and Clinton last week. Both teams did very well.

Finally, some important information for Thursday Night Bingo players, and future players. You might want to come to the event some night soon if you haven’t before. There will be a guaranteed $1,000 jackpot on the following Bingo Nights – Sept. 19, Oct. 10 and Nov. 7. As for food on Bingo nights, the last night for burgers will be Sept. 19, and it will switch to hot dogs for Sept. 26. Some new food items will be offered for Bingo Nights in October, so stay tuned.

At the Oct. 3 Bingo Night, we’ll be giving out a total of 20 - $25 grocery gift cards. This is something new this year, replacing the usual turkey giveaways. This gives participants the flexibility to choose their groceries, and they won’t have to carry a turkey home from Bingo.

To wrap things up, we are always looking for more volunteers to help with Bingo, so if you’d like to contribute in any way, or assist in the kitchen, please reach out to Martyn.
