Kincardine newcomer passionate about environment, organizes beach clean-up
September 29, 2024
Andrew Evans (above) moved to Kincardine in March and immediately dove into the business of getting to know his new community through volunteer work with a variety of local groups, particularly those with an environmental focus.
Evans loves the beauty of his new home and the restorative effects of living close to the water. With a background in environmental and natural resources sciences, he feels compelled to do what he can to protect it by keeping parks and public areas clean.
He has partnered with the Huron Fringe Field Naturalists and the Lake Huron Coastal Centre and is now looking for Kincardine residents who are passionate about the environment, to join him for a beach clean-up before the onset of winter.
Members of the public are invited to gather at the main access path of Station Beach, Sunday, Oct. 6, from 1:30–2:30 p.m. Participants should wear sturdy footwear and bring work gloves and a bucket or use collection equipment provided by the coastal centre.
This is a casual event for people who care about the environment and keeping their community beautiful. Students in need of volunteer hours are particularly welcome.
