Enbridge opens new office in Vestas building, northeast of Tiverton

Enbridge has opened its new office in the back of the Vestas building, at 457 Sideroad 30, just off Bruce County Road 20, northeast of Tiverton.
The official ribbon-cutting was held Thursday afternoon, with employees of Enbridge and Vestas, as well as numerous dignitaries, gathering for the grand opening, followed by a barbecue.
Usman Bhatti, site manager for Enbridge’s Underwood and Cruickshank wind farms, welcomed everyone and said Enbridge and Vestas have been partners since the wind farm in Underwood, part of the Municipality of Kincardine, opened about 15 years ago.
Originally, Enbridge had an office in downtown Kincardine, a good location for people to stop in and ask questions about the wind turbines and the renewable energy industry. Now, with the wind farms up and running for years, Enbridge is more at home with its office in the back of the Vestas building, said Bhatti. Vestas does all the maintenance and trouble-shooting at the two wind farms.
Rob Jozwiak, vice-president of Enbridge power operations, said the company began operating in the Kincardine area in 2006-08. The Underwood wind farm was the first utility-scale location.
Enbridge has $10-billion invested in renewable energy, he said, noting how important relationships are with small communities.
Kincardine mayor Kenneth Craig congratulated Enbridge on its new office and said the company has been a positive influence on the Municipality of Kincardine. He presented Enbridge with a certificate of appreciation for continuing to do business in the municipality.
