This year’s Tiverton Fall Fair saw warm, sunny weather as people gathered for the many events and activities on the weekend, under the theme, “Pumpkin Kisses and Autumn Wishes.”
The fair was officially opened Friday night, with Hayden Trapp and Loretta Miller winning the Tiny Tot Ambassador Competition, followed by the pie and cake auction which also included a roll of maxi coil donated by Tony Kime, president of Bluewater Pipe. The evening ended with the local entertainment showcase and laser tag.
Saturday morning was chilly, but a great crowd warmed up at the Tiverton Lions breakfast held at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre. The Lions served about 250 people, with everyone enjoying a fortifying meal of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes and toast, and all the fixings!
The Saddle Horse How was held behind the Tiverton Arena, while the Miniature Horse Show was held at the north end of the ball diamond.
The Tiverton fire truck led off the parade which marched from just west of Tiverton through the downtown to the fairgrounds. It featured the famous Craig and Convay family float with Cinderella spreading wishes from her pumpkin carriage, along with several vintage cars, trucks and tractors, members of Kincardine Guiding, and some zany chickens representing Kenvel Farms!
Once the parade was over, the Lawn Tractor Pull was under way, including stock, super stock and modified classes. For those competing, if you want to view a video of your run, check the H&S Pulling Team on YouTube.
Meanwhile, in the Annex, the Tiverton Lions Cake Wheel was spinning, with people betting on taking home one of those delicious cakes. And beside the Lions Hall, the Kinetic Knights Robotics Team was doing a demonstration, encouraging young and old to try driving the robot and meeting the challenge.
Other activities included the Mad Scientist, petting zoo and pony rides, face-painting, reptile show, kids’ bean box, archery, scavenger hunt, needle in a haystack, midway, and kids’ pedal tractor pull.
The day ended with the fall fair dance to General Gist and Adam Cousins.
Sunday morning saw wet, windy weather as a storm rolled through but by the afternoon, the sun was shining. The fair events included the community church service, craft show, children’s pet show, military display, and the truck and tractor pull.
