A wonderful evening was enjoyed by approximately 30 women at the Ladies Night hosted by the Tiverton Baptist Church, Monday, Dec. 7. Organizers Angela Onuluk and Lisa Robertson-Taylor scheduled an informative evening on health and wellness.

The first speaker was Melissa Cooper, a health coach at Magnum Total Fitness, who made a “60 second chocolate cake" which we all tasted and yes, it was fabulous. Healthy eating was encouraged for the holiday season but still enjoy the wonderful food. She can be reached at coopermagnum@gmail.com.

The second speaker was Ruth Ball of Chalmers Community Church, who gave us an inspirational devotion explaining the true meaning of Christmas.

The final speaker was M. Colette Harman, a doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, who works at the Kincardine Holistic Health Centre on Durham Street in Kincardine. She offered a very enlightening approach to using natural products to get you through the holiday season after all the delicious food is consumed. She can be reached at charman@tnt21.com or www.KincardineHolistic.com. You would be amazed at all the alternatives you can use.

Between speakers, everyone enjoyed punch, tea and appetizers. The Tiverton Baptist Church will be holding another ladies night in the spring to talk about gardening - so be sure to watch for that.

Manor Musings

The residents of Tiverton Park Manor enjoyed their annual Owen Sound Festival of Northern Lights Tour. We had a full bus of residents and volunteers, first going to the Harrison Park Inn for dinner and then on to the tour. First stop, was the grounds at Harrison Park where we enjoyed the beautiful display of lights and the story of Christmas which was broadcast over the radio. There are also many swans and ducks in the pond to view. Next, was on to the city lights which are so amazing. The downtown lit up the sky with the most amazing colors. Even the docked Chi-Cheemaun was lit up. If you’ve never gone or haven’t been this year, then you have until Jan. 3, 2016.

Irene Bradley, a resident of Tiverton Park Manor, will be 103 years young Dec. 20. The manor will be holding a special birthday party for this centenarian Dec. 18.

Birthday wishes go out to Roberta Trelford and Irene Bradley.
