November 26, 2024
The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board has announced the election of Lori Di Castri (above) as chairperson and Linda Strader (right) as vice-chairperson for the 2024-25 term. They both held these positions last year so their re-election will provide ongoing stability for the board.
Their leadership will continue to guide the board in its mission to provide quality Catholic education while fostering strong connections with students, families, and communities across the region.
Di Castri, representing Kincardine, Huron-Kinloss, and Brockton Ward 31, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to Catholic education. As chairperson for her sixth term, she will lead the board in its continued efforts to nurture the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of all students.
“I am honoured to serve as chairperson of the board, and to continue to work alongside our dedicated trustees, staff, and families in supporting Catholic education across Bruce and Grey counties,” she said. “Our focus will remain on fostering an inclusive and faith-filled learning environment that equips all our students to achieve their fullest potential.”
Strader serves Brockton, Wards 34 and 36. Her dedication to the success and well-being of students and staff will strengthen the board’s focus on collaboration and innovation.
“It is a privilege to continue to serve as vice-chairperson and contribute to the important work of our board,” she said. “Together, we will continue to prioritize the needs of our students and staff, ensuring that our schools are places where faith and learning thrive.”
Trustees serving alongside them are:
- Bev Eckensweiler, South Bruce
- Bruce Muise, Owen Sound, Meaford and the Blue Mountain
- Robyn Garvey, West Grey, Hanover, Grey Highlands and Southgate
- Lucie Desbiens, Saugeen Shores, Arran-Elderslie, Chatsworth, Georgian Bluffs, Northern Bruce Peninsula and South Bruce Peninsula
Additionally, the board has two student trustees: Kate Bester of Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton, and Vani Mahajan, of St. Mary’s High School in Owen Sound, who bring important student perspectives to board discussions.
