Purple Grove news
Well, aren't you glad you live in Bruce County where we are revelling in the white stuff? Brings back memories of when a grader got stuck on the 12th Concession and the neighbours had to shovel the snow to get it out. Those were the days. That was just after they started snowplowing the roads. Otherwise, it was by horse-and-cutter or team-and-sleigh to get to Ripley or wherever you were going.
A big thank you to all the emergency personnel for their dedication to our well-being on these nasty roads.
Thanks to all those who organized the Santa Claus Parades in Lucknow and Kincardine, held on the weekend, and to everyone for the beautiful entries and floats.
Rosewood RVilla in Ripley is hosting a Christmas Celebration at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre, this Sunday, Dec. 8, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Meet Santa Claus, enjoy cookies, hot apple cider and hot chocolate, with a craft and cookie-decorating for the children. Free skating with the Ripley Wolves will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Donations to the Kincardine Food Bank are welcome.
Doug MacDonald's family gathered at the Purple Grove Community Centre on the weekend to celebrate the American Thanksgiving. It was good to see Stefani and Mike of New York State, and Sheena and Bob and family of Michigan.

The Ripley-Huron Fall Fair ambassadors Brianna Pointon-Yungblut and Maria Morais had a great time at the Kincardine and Lucknow Christmas Parades, representing the Ripley Agricultural Society.
Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike, our Christmas Elves - also known as our board of directors - are working diligently to hand-deliver all exhibitor prize money. Please be patient! They are doing this as the weather and their schedules permit! If you would prefer to make alternate arrangements to collect your prize money, contact Christine at
ripleyfair@hurontel.on.ca or 519-525-6225.
