Continuing need for winter apparel in Kincardine
There continues to be a need for winter coats, hats, boots and more, in Kincardine.

Wendy Cox, who organized the winter coat drive back in October, says a woman came to the Kincardine Good Food Box/Bruce County Outreach at Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine, Thursday morning, looking for a winter coat.

“We kept several at Knox Church at the end of the Winter Warmth Coat Drive, but sadly we had nothing of appropriate size for this woman,” says Cox. “Then, I got a message from Pat Stewart at the Kincardine Food Bank, saying there was someone who needed a winter coat and did we have any left?”

A meeting was arranged and this time, a proper-sized coat was found, as well as some warm winter socks.

Cox says that Monday, she received a message from Lorrie Alexander at the food bank, asking for a list of the sizes of the remaining coats at Knox because there had been another request.

“Apparently, not everybody heard about our coat drive, or maybe people weren't able to attend,” says Cox. “There continues to be a desperate need for warm winter apparel in Kincardine.”

If you can assist by providing clean, gently-used winter coats, hats, scarves, mitts, etc., you can drop them off at Knox Kincardine, Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to Noon, or at the food bank, Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
