Kincardine U13 “B1” Kinucks win Silver Stick Regional championship on home ice
The Kincardine U13 “B1” Kinucks won the Silver Stick Regional Hockey Tournament championship on home ice, at the Davidson Centre, Monday afternoon.
The Kinucks ended the round-robin action at the top of the standings with two wins.
They advanced to the semi-finals where they took on the Saugeen Valley Steelheads, edging them out, 5-4, to move on to the finals against the Saugeen Shores Storm.
The championship game was a barn-burner as the teams played to a 4-4 tie in regulation time, forcing overtime. Kincardine’s Colby Walton scored the winning goal, giving the Kinucks the trophy and the banner.
In other finals, the Walkerton Capitals won the U13 “B2” championship, while the Arran-Elderslie Icedogs won the U15 “B2” final, and the South Huron Sabres won the U15 “B1” final.
The U15 teams will advance to the International Silver Stick finals in Forest, Jan. 10-12, 2025, while the U13 teams will advance to the International Silver Stick finals in Forest, Jan. 24-26, 2025.
