Fix the problem!
To the Editor:

RE: “Kincardine whittles 2025 budget back to 8% tax-rate increase”

Kincardine council is about to spend $80,000 for a community development person to assist the manager of strategic initiatives create a more welcoming, inclusive and accessible community.

I would suggest anyone with a statue, big or small, hide it. The last statute Kincardine took an interest in, quickly went missing and then was destroyed, apparently, with dignity. That was to make the municipality more welcoming.

God only knows what will happen to the mermaid at Dunsmoor Park. Perhaps it will make non-swimmers feel inferior and then it, too, could disappear.

What about accessibility? The able-bodied are having trouble walking the streets of Kincardine this winter. Those with walkers, canes, etc., find it almost impossible.

I don’t know if it’s an equipment problem or a shortage of workers that leaves our sidewalks with two to four inches of snow cover.

Whatever, the $80,000 would be better spent fixing the problem. We don’t need another highly-paid pencil pusher.

I absolutely agree with you Eric Howard! The MoK seems to want to spend money but not in places it really needs it! Enough pencil pushers at the MoK we NEED actual workers! JMHO, Joan Hartwick

Couldn’t agree more with Eric. The administrative base of all our governments is steadily increasing. In addition to increased cost (taxes) it leaves less resources for actually getting things done. And somehow, as the administrative base increases, so does inefficiency and the need for hiring costly consultants. Ridiculous!

Such a waste of money, if the manager of strategic initiatives cannot handle the job get someone in the position that can, saving $80k.

Seems like council has an affinity to spend on consultants and more administrative positions which results in driving up municipal taxes yearly above inflation. The idea that Kincardine municipality needs strategic initiatives to be more welcoming, inclusive, etc., is costly. The monument handling went against these principles.
