Kincardine community deserves to be informed about status of new high school project
To the Editor:
I write to express my deep concerns and frustrations regarding the lack of progress on building a new high school to replace the outdated Kincardine District Secondary School (KDSS), now called the Kincardine District Senior School.
This project, has been funded for six years with little visible advancement. It is disheartening to think that our children, including my eight-year-old granddaughter, may not be able to attend the new school as planned.
Many in our community, including myself, are incredibly disappointed by the slow pace and lack of transparency from the Bluewater District School Board.
Despite reaching out to the board numerous times, we have not received clear information on key project milestones or a projected timeline for completion. The land selection and purchase for the new school have not yet been finalized, and it seems there are still several steps to be taken before construction can even begin.
The board has also failed to provide any updates to the Kincardine council, despite repeated requests. This lack of communication and engagement with the community and council, is unacceptable.
Also, numerous attempts to appeal to Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson regarding this matter, have resulted in no response, further highlighting the lack of leadership accountability. This situation calls for immediate action.
We urge the school board to be more transparent about the project's milestones and timelines and to actively communicate with the community and council.
The community deserves to be informed and engaged in this important project. Let's work together for the sake of our children, to ensure that this new high school becomes a reality sooner rather than later.
Sincerely,
Graham Hancock
