Kincardine Bulldogs post two wins at Davidson Centre on the weekend
The Kincardine Bulldogs of the Provincial Junior Hockey League, posted two wins on the weekend, on home ice at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.
Friday night, the ‘Dogs took on the Mitchell Hawks and clipped their wings by a 5-3 score.
Scoring for Kincardine, were Dustin Heipel with two, and James Hendry, Chad Lawrence and Jordan Moulton with singles.
Assists went to Jordan Beisel (3), Lawrence (2), Kyle Dolmage (2), Bryce Martin, Carter Servais, and Moulton.
Bulldogs goalie Rowen Cherrett made 33 saves on 36 shots.
Saturday night, the ‘Dogs took on the Walkerton Capitals and edged them, 5-4.
Walkerton opened the scoring early in the first before Martin tied it up, scoring from Moulton and Dolmage.
The Capitals took the lead again, early in the second period, before Moulton scored from Dolmage and Trent Houghton, to tie things at 2-2.
Minutes into the third, Caleb Bowler put the Bulldogs ahead, 3-2, scoring from Aiden Yarde and Beisel. Austin Dunlop then made it a 4-2 game, scoring from Blake Hellyer and Moulton.
Walkerton scored to come within one, before Houghton retained Kincardine’s two-goal lead, on an unassisted, short-handed marker.
The Capitals managed to score one final goal late in the game, but it wasn’t enough, and the ‘Dogs took the 5-4 win.
Kincardine goalie Ryan Tanner made 31 saves on 35 shots.
The Bulldogs continue on home ice for the next two weeks, facing Fergus, Friday, Feb. 7, at 8:30 p.m.; taking on Hanover, Saturday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m.; welcoming Wingham, Saturday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m.; and taking on Goderich, Monday, Feb. 17, 2 p.m.
