Ripley Wolves punch ticket to the finals with Game 6 win over Saugeen Shores
The Ripley Wolves will face the Minto 81s in the Ontario Elite Hockey League finals, after finishing off the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks in six games, Sunday night, in Port Elgin.
The ‘Hawks pushed the series to Game 6, after downing the Wolves, 3-2, in Game 5, Friday night, in front of a huge crowd at the Ripley Arena.
In that game, both Ripley goals were scored by Kaden Hoggarth, with assists going to Tyler McCarthy (2), Ethan Skinner and Dan Nicoloff.
Sunday night in Port Elgin, the Wolves roared back, taking a 5-2 win and the series.
Goals were scored by Brett Catto, with two in the third period to seal the win, Evan Visser and Cody Britton.
Assists went to Britton (3), Garrett Meurs (2), Logan Swanton, Nicoloff, and defenceman Jordan Moulton (with his first two points on the Wolves team after graduating from the Kincardine Bulldogs).
Ripley goalie Jason Hamilton sealed the series victory, making 43 saves on 45 shots.
The Wolves will now face the Minto 81s who defeated the Seaforth Centenaires in six games.
Game 1 of the finals will be Friday, March 21, at 8:30 p.m., in Ripley. Game 2 runs Saturday, March 22, at 6 p.m., in Palmerston.
