More than 100 people enjoy Great Canadian Stew Lunch at Knox Kincardine
More than 100 people enjoyed a hearty beef and vegetable stew lunch, Friday, at Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine.
While they were appreciating the delicious food and each other's company, Rev. Dan West of Knox Kincardine, presented a donation of $2,500 to Francesca Dobbyn, executive director of the United Way of Bruce Grey, for the 2025 backpack program.
Last year, 178 fully-stocked backpacks were delivered to students in the Kincardine area for an estimated cost to United Way of $5,731.60, which translates to around $32 per backpack. This is a bargain because of United Way's buying power. For a parent or caregiver, the same equipment would cost around $85.
The donation is part of Knox's 2025 commitment to help meet the needs of the community.
