Wednesday was Vimy Ridge Day, and our Legion Colour Guard held a commemoration ceremony at the Kincardine Cemetery, where the flags were placed at half-mast in honour of this historic day. You can see a photo below, and you can also watch video of the ceremony on our Facebook page. Thank you to those who attended this event.

Flags are placed at half-mast in the Kincardine Cemetery, Wednesday, in commemoration of Vimy Ridge Day; Legion Colour Guard members included Kirk Rutledge, Mike Dupuis, John Farrell, Nicole Chessell, Kevin Martin, and Dave Carson; Legion chaplain, Rev. Eric Williams offered some lovely words and prayers

The first draw of the next round of Catch the Ace will be held Wednesday, May 7. Tickets will go on sale April 23, two weeks before the first draw. Let’s start off big - tickets will be for sale on-line and in all of our wonderful in-person locations.

At the Saturday Meat Draw, we had eight distinct winners with no double-dippers. The 50/50 draw winner was Jamie White who took home $208.50. Congratulations to all the winners! Look ahead and mark May 3 on your calendar, as that is our next Mega Meat Draw, with Hwy 19 providing the entertainment.

Branch 183 was very pleased to add some further support to the Kinetic Knights Robotics Team, FRC Team 781, with a donation of $10,000! This will help the team with the registration fee as the Kinetic Knights have qualified for the FIRST World Championships in Houston, Texas, next week. Congratulations on making it to worlds, and good luck!

Volunteer opportunities at the Legion - We are currently looking for help in a few areas. We are looking for volunteers for our Canada Day celebration, and we need a few back-up Bingo callers for Thursday Night Bingo. If you would like to help out, you can message us via DM on our Facebook Page, or feel free to send an E-mail to kinlegion@bmts.com and we can forward it along to Teri (for Canada Day) or Marty (for Bingo). Any questions at all, just reach out!

Branch elections will soon be here - If any members wish to put their names forward for a position on the Branch 183 Executive, write your name on the board in the front hall of the branch. Elections will be held at the General Membership Meeting, Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m.

Here are some more Coming Events:

  • Sunday, June 1 – Veterans Barbecue for our veterans and their families and caregivers. This will be much like our Christmas Veterans Dinner, but hopefully, outside! Pass this date on to a veteran, if you know one
  • Tuesday, July 1 - Canada Day Celebration at the Legion, with Hwy 19

Be sure to check our April events calendar, which is posted on our Facebook page, as well as on our Legion website at www.kincardinelegion.com/
