Just after 2 p.m.., Jan. 14, 2015, police located the stolen vehicle parked on the side of Belfast Road. Officers noted the vehicle did not have attached licence plates and it was partially blocking the eastbound lane. From a distance, police watched a female driver exit the vehicle and begin to walk westbound on Belfast Road. Upon arrival at the scene, officers checked the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the vehicle and were able to determine the vehicle was stolen from Goderich.
Just down the road from the stolen vehicle, officers located the female driver. She was placed under arrest for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. Officers searched the female driver upon arrest and discovered she was in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. Officers then searched the stolen vehicle and located a front licence plate that was stolen from a vehicle located on Marnoch Line in North Huron.
Further police investigation revealed a man of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh also had been in possession of the stolen vehicle and stolen licence plate.
As a result, Shannon HUNTER, 31, of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Methamphetamine). She remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for Jan. 19, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
John VAN DIEPENBEEK, 33, of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 2, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
