Purple Grove news
A very Happy Mother's Day to all our mothers and those special people in our lives! A beautiful weekend, for sure, even if it was cool with that north wind! It was great to be outside getting some yard work started and going for plant sales.

Thanks to Coastal Coffee for hosting a plant sale with proceeds going to the Bruce Botanical Food Gardens in Ripley! Thanks also to the food gardens for hosting a fruit tree pruning workshop recently for people to learn how to prune their trees.

It's great to have the burger nights again hosted by the Ripley-Huron Legion, Friday nights - people sure enjoy getting together again! Thanks for the wing night on Saturday too.

The long weekend is coming up quickly and the Village of Ripley is getting ready for the annual yard sales! The Ripley Horticultural Society will have its plant sale in Lewis Park, Saturday! Please no invasive species, and check for hitchhikers - weeds and creatures that shouldn't be shared or passed on! The “For Our Youth” club will have a table there too.

Find out about Butterflies in My Back Yard (BIMBY) presented by Christine Roberts at the next Ripley and District Horticultural Society meeting, Wednesday, May 21, at the Ripley-Huron Legion, starting at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome and "lug your mug."

Congratulations to Maddy Gallant and Matt McNichol who welcomed their little boy, Kolter Matthew McNichol, born April 14!

A well-attended blood donor clinic was held in Lucknow, Friday.

An especially belated Happy 60th Birthday to the best bus driver in Purple Grove, Steve Hallam, last week! Happy Birthday, also, to Chris Farrell, Sherry Howatt and Happy first Birthday to Kasey Cubberley. Family and friends also gathered to wish Jan Logtenberg a very happy 65th birthday, Saturday!

Happy Wedding Anniversary to David and Liz Dadson last week too!

An almost full house enjoyed "From Sea to Sea - A Celebration of Canadian Artists" at the Blyth Memorial Theatre, Saturday night. What fabulous music, from Anne Murray, Leonard Cohen, Tom Connors, Ian Tyson, Joni Mitchell, The Guess Who, Neil Young and so many other groups to sing along to, with The Wander Duo!

Family and friends gathered on the weekend to recognize the passing of Dwight Swan, son of the late Donna Swan, one of our former members. We also extend our sympathy to the families of Bonnie Stark of Kincardine, Michelle Ferris (Cuthberson) of Glammis, and Isabel Riendeau of Ripley.

Get well wishes are extended to our friends in hospital at this time. We hope you'll be getting closer to home soon!

Enjoy the full moon in May - also called the flower moon – May 11-13! Have a good week, everyone!
