KDSS Relay for Life set for May 22 at Davidson Centre in Kincardine
Organizers of the Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS) Relay for Life are inviting everyone to be part of this powerful day, filled with music, fun and community, Thursday, May 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Davidson Centre track in Kincardine.

Whether you're walking, running, or just soaking in the atmosphere, every step helps fund life-saving research and support those affected by cancer. The event is open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to invite your family and friends!

This event honours survivors, remembers loved ones, and fuels the mission to end cancer for everyone, through research, advocacy, and patient care. Gather your friends, lace up your sneakers, and let's make a difference together!

Organized by the KDSS student council, the relay is scheduled for May 22, with a rain date of May 23 (rain or shine), and features an exciting line-up of activities, including spike ball, soccer, yard games and flag football, as well as T-shirt decorating, face-painting, and hair-shaving.

Explore the vendor/food market, tour the police, fire and paramedic vehicles, and capture memories at the photo booth. For some extra fun, there will be water activities and a foam machine to cool off.

The day will include a Luminary Festival, a Survivor Lap, and a guest speaker.

To sign up, visit the Relay for Life Kincardine 2025 website at: support.cancer.ca/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLY_NW_even_?fr_id=30356&pg=entry. Click “sign up” and create an account, if needed, under new participant. You can join or create a team, set your fund-raising goal, and start preparing for the event.

Teams make Relay for Life more impactful and fun. Prizes will be awarded for the Best Team Theme, Largest Team, and Top Fund-raisers, so grab your crew and get creative. Dressing up with a theme boosts team spirit and adds to the unforgettable energy of the day. Plus, each team keeps the relay going by having at least one member always walking the track — showing the commitment to the fight against cancer, every step of the way.

To participate in Relay for Life, each person must raise a minimum of $50. Raise $100 or more and you’ll get an exclusive Relay for Life T-shirt! To start fund-raising, you’ll need to donate $20 to create your account. Ask friends and family to support you by donating through your team’s Relay for Life website — they’ll need your team's name to find the right page.

The school's goal is to raise $15,000. To donate by cheque, please make it out to the Canadian Cancer Society.
