Ross Atkinson of Kincardine dies at the age of 85
Ross Walter Atkinson of Kincardine died suddenly, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the age of 85.
Beloved husband of Mary “Dianne” Atkinson (née McCallum).
Loving father of Angela Merritt (Bill) and the late Gail Atkinson.
Proud grandfather of Joe Merritt, Heidi Robson and James Merritt; and great-grandfather of Dahlia Robson and Brantley Merritt.
Fondly remember by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ross was born Dec. 26 (Boxing Day), 1939, in Selkirk, Haldimand County, near Lake Erie. He cheered on the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays.
In his day, Ross was a fisherman, out of Port Dover, drove a milk truck, ran the FINA gas station in Kincardine, and also worked maintenance at Ontario Hydro. No matter how busy he was, he always had time for his family, and they will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, 757 Princes Street, Kincardine, Thursday, May 22, 2025, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.; where the funeral will be held, Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11 a.m., with celebrant Ann Maycock officiating.
Reception to follow in the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home lounge.
Interment, Kincardine Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Parkinson Society Canada, would be appreciated by his family.
