​Kincardine’s new zamboni now named “Chillzilla”

The new electric zamboni at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine now has a new name, “Chillzilla.”

In early January, the Municipality of Kincardine put out a call to the community to come up with a name for the newest member of the Davidson Centre fleet.

A contest was held, inviting people to submit their proposed name for the zamboni, as well as provide vibrant designs on a colouring page. These pages decorated the Davidson Centre over the winter.

The municipality received 384 entries, with 15 short-listed as finalists whose name suggestions included the following:

• Smooth Operator
• Slick Rick
• Skate Supreme
• Nice Ice Baby
• Knuck Kruiser
• Ice Sweeper
• Ice Ice Davey
• Frozen Tornado
• Fludd
• Clean Machine
• Chillzilla

A random draw resulted in Karen Powell’s “Chillzilla” name as the winner. The zamboni now features a licence plate decal declaring its new name.
