Joan Ritchie, formerly of Kincardine, remembered for dedicating her life to serving others
Joan Frances Ritchie (nee Pollock), formerly of Kincardine, died Sunday, May 11, 2025, at The Village of Tansley Woods Long-Term Care, Burlington, in her 83rd year.
Beloved mother of Scott (Vivette) of Milton, Rob (Jane) of South Elgin, Illinois, and Daniel of Hamilton.
Grandmother of Kyla, Emma, Benjamin, and Matthew.
Missed by her brother, Doug (Vicky) Pollock of Waterloo; sister, Anne Astles of Blind River; sister-in-law, Glenna (Jack) Feir of Pennsylvania; brother-in-law Drew (Gayle) Ritchie of Victoria, British Columbia; and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband, Bill; brother-in-law, Peter Astles; parents-in-law, Jim and Ina Ritchie; and her parents, Carl and Jean (nee Grant) Pollock.
Joan dedicated her life to serving others and was deeply involved as a volunteer in many community organizations, including the Eastern Star, United Church Women, United Church choir, Canadian Cancer Society, Community Living of Kincardine and District, and Kincardine Hospital Auxiliary.
In 2017, she was awarded a Provincial Life Membership in the Hospital Auxiliaries Association of Ontario, the premier award for long-standing and reliable service.
Her unwavering commitment and enthusiasm to volunteering left a lasting impact on everyone she worked with and every cause she supported.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 23, 2025, from 12-1 p.m., at the Kincardine United Church, followed by the funeral at 1:30 p.m., at the church. Reception to follow.
Interment, Kincardine Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce or the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine Hospital Auxiliary would be appreciated.
