Public invited to share ideas about environmental sustainability in Bruce County
Bruce County is working to develop its first Environmental Sustainability Action Plan and is encouraging the public to share its ideas on the subject.

To ensure the plan reflects the values and priorities of the community, the county invites you to complete a short survey. Your input will help the county understand local environmental priorities, identify challenges and opportunities, and shape meaningful actions the county and community can take together.

“From our shorelines and forests to our towns and farms, Bruce County’s natural environment is deeply connected to our way of life,” says warden Luke Charbonneau. “We all have a role to play in protecting it.

“The Environmental Sustainability Action Plan will be rooted in local voices. I encourage everyone to get involved so the plan truly reflects the needs and values of our region.”

The survey is confidential, takes just 10-15 minutes to complete, and directly informs the development of the plan.

Complete the survey; deadline is June 22, 2025.

The Environmental Sustainability Action Plan will serve as a road map to guide practical, collaborative actions that support environmental stewardship, climate adaptation and long-term sustainability. The plan will also advance a key priority in Bruce County’s Strategic Plan: building capacity to adapt to, and mitigate the impacts of, climate change.

The action plan will focus on key areas where the county can lead and collaborate regionally, including forest conservation, waste management, active and sustainable transportation, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and fostering partnerships and environmental awareness.

Community feedback will play a vital role in shaping the plan and guiding the county’s path toward a more resilient, climate-conscious future. In addition to the survey, county staff is engaging directly with municipal partners, Indigenous rights-holders, agencies, and key community stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives and ensure the plan reflects shared values and goals.
