KDSS Relay for Life raises $20,000 for Canadian Cancer Society
The Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS) Relay for Life, held Thursday at the Davidson Centre track in Kincardine, surpassed its $15,000 goal, raising $20,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
The event drew a total of 150 participants, with about 50 elementary students taking part in the morning and 100 secondary students in the afternoon.
They enjoyed the sunny, cool weather, walking the track and taking in several activities, including spike ball, soccer, tug-of-war, and flag football, as well as T-shirt decorating, face-painting, henna tattoos, and a photo booth.
The day also included a Luminary Festival, a Survivor Lap, a guest speaker, and prizes for the best team spirit, most funds raised, and most laps walked.
Organized by the KDSS student council, the relay was originally planned for May 22 but had to be re-scheduled to June 5, due to inclement weather.
