Kincardine U13 girls soccer team shows grit in close match against Strathroy
The Kincardine U13 girls competitive soccer team hit the road this week, taking on Strathroy in what turned out to be an exciting and hard-fought match.
The girls took to the field in their away jerseys, proudly representing the UBC Local 2222 Carpenters Union.
Although the final score was 3–2 in favour of Strathroy, the Kincardine squad showcased plenty of heart and talent. Goals were scored by Isla Vinandy and Tegan Frook, both capitalizing on offensive pressure and teamwork to put the ball in the back of the net.
The Kincardine defence stood strong throughout the match, frustrating Strathroy’s attack by catching its players offside on multiple breakaways. While a few chances slipped through, the defensive effort was a stand-out element of the game and a promising sign of what’s to come.
Despite the loss, the match was full of highlights and important take-aways that the team will carry into future games.
With a season record of 1–3, the girls are eager to build on what they've learned so far as they head into their next challenge: their first District Cup game. The girls will face off against Goderich at home this week and are ready to give it their all on familiar turf.
