Huron United shares the spoils in drama-filled draw against FC Rohingya B
The Huron United Football Club battled to a 2-2 draw with FC Rohingya B in an action-packed match at Spinrite Field, Sunday.

Huron United struck early with a clinical finish from its leading scorer Adam Carty, who netted his fifth of the season in the 15th minute. Carty latched onto a well-weighted pass from Gerrit Satosek and slotted the ball into the top left corner, giving his team a 1-0 lead at half-time.

The visitors responded in the 55th minute, capitalizing on a loose scramble in Huron United’s 18-yard box to beat keeper Josh Coleman and level the score.

Tensions boiled over in the 70th minute when a challenge from Huron United’s Simon Andonian led to a dramatic flop from a Rohingya player. The real drama followed immediately after, as the Rohingya player retaliated with unsportsmanlike conduct — resulting in a straight red card and a one-man advantage for Huron United.

With that man advantage, Huron United regained the lead in the 76th minute through a brilliant sequence starting with a Carty throw-in to Satosek. A quick chest pass back to Carty set up a driven cross into the box, which Drew Cobean met with a precise header to the far post.

But despite being a man down, FC Rohingya found a last-gasp equalizer in stoppage time (93rd minute) after a costly Huron United turnover. A pinpoint cross found an unmarked Rohingya striker, who calmly finished to stun the home crowd and snatch a point for the visitors.

While Huron United will be disappointed not to have held on for the win, the team came away with a hard-earned point.

Man of the Match honours went to Adam Carty, whose goal and assist once again proved his value as the team’s attacking linchpin. The forward was a constant threat and played a pivotal role in both goals. Honourable mentions go to debutante James Jeffreys for a composed performance and Gerrit Satosek for his relentless work rate and involvement in both attacking phases.

Huron United is playing out of the Tri-City Men's Soccer League again this season, and the next match is against Riverside FC B, June 24, at Spinrite Field, Listowel. Huron United’s roster is composed of players from Kincardine, Port Elgin, and surrounding areas, and the team is playing under the Saugeen Shores United Football Club.
