First Kincardine Cruise Night cut short by thunderstorm
Despite the threat of a thunderstorm, a good crowd turned out for the first Cruise Night in downtown Kincardine, Friday evening.
A variety of antique, vintage and classic cars lined Queen Street, including a 1958 Pontiac Star Chief, owned by Gary Clayton of Belgrave, and a 1958 Edsel Pacer, owned by Brian and Barb Schaus of Hanover.
And there was the regular Corvette line-up, on the west side Queen Street, north of Lambton Street.
It was also Giving Cruise Day, with the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation welcoming donations to the Kincardine Hospital redevelopment project, with matching funds up to $25,000 from Todd and Stephanie Farrell.
In addition, members of the foundation were on hand, selling 50-50 tickets.
Cruise Night began around 5:30 p.m., and an hour later, the storm hit, bringing heavy rain, high wind, thunder and lighting. Moments later, the event was officially cancelled and everyone was heading out.
Hopefully, the weather is better for the next two Cruise Nights, set for Aug. 1 and Aug. 29, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., in downtown Kincardine.
