Kincardine Community Living celebrates completion of generator project at Saratoga home
Community Living of Kincardine and District has announced the successful completion of the generator project at the Saratoga home — a vital initiative made possible by the generous contributions of the community, donors, and grant partners.

As the reliance on electricity increases, to support essential daily needs — such as personal lifts, CPAP machines, recharging electric wheelchairs, and maintaining the safety and comfort of residents — having a dependable power source is no longer optional, it's critical.

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of donors, Community Living reached its $75,000 goal and has installed a commercial-grade generator at the Saratoga home. This investment ensures uninterrupted power during outages, providing essential support for people with developmental disabilities and complex physical needs.

“I am happy we won’t lose power anymore,” said resident Randy Smith. “I am also going to be happy to keep my cable. I will be able to adjust my bed no matter what, and I know that my power chair and lift are going to be charged. I am also so happy I get to use my computer!”

This is just one example of how the generator project is making an immediate and meaningful difference.

Jen McCullough, another resident, said simply, “I will love having the lights stay on when there is a power outage.”

Her father, Chris McCullough, added, “My daughter, Jen, let me know right away when she heard about the generator — and said she won’t be calling me anymore to ask me to go to work to get the lights back on!”

This project represents more than equipment; it stands for dignity, independence, safety, and continued connection for the individuals supported by Community Living.

The agency extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this possible. Special thanks to Community Foundation Grey Bruce’s capital grant program, the Harry E. Foster Foundation, and the Trillium Mutual Insurance Fund for generous contributions to this project.
