Law Enforcement Torch Run in Huron County is a great success
(HURON COUNTY, ON) - The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run was held in Huron County, Wednesday, June 4, and was a great success, raising more than $7,200.
Huron County OPP and Special Olympics Ontario partnered, alongside family members, friends, and community supporters from all over Huron County, to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics.
The Torch Run is the largest public awareness vehicle and grassroots fund-raiser for Special Olympics.
Huron OPP Torch Run co-ordinator, Sgt. Russell Nesbitt has been involved with this great partnership for 28 years, and was thrilled to report the amount raised this year.
The Torch Run began at the Maitland River Community Church in Wingham, headed through Wingham, ending at the south end of town. Participants were then transported to Blyth, Clinton, and Goderich where they brought their excitement and joy to each of those communities.
After completing the final leg in Goderich, participants and supporters met at McGee Motors on Suncoast Drive East in Goderich, for a celebration barbecue.
A big thanks to the donors, Goderich Zehrs Store, First Student Bus Line Goderich, M&M Meats Goderich, McGee Motors, and Corrie's Foodland, who provided transportation, food items and support for the participants and volunteers.
A barbecue fund-raiser was also held at Corrie's Foodland in Clinton, Friday, June 27,which saw a great turn-out and generous donations from the Corrie family and members of the public.
Any person or business that is looking to donate to this wonderful cause may donate by cash or cheque made payable to "Ontario Special Olympics."
