Good for Heritage Kincardine!
To the Editor:
Kincardine council must adhere to the 19th Century proverb: Happy is the country with no history.
Mayor Kenneth Craig spoke eloquently at the Canada Day ceremony at the flagpole, mentioning, “We stand here on the shoulders of our ancestors …” And then they were ignored.
Unfortunately, organizers of the event failed to acknowledge the Heritage Kincardine committee members who were in attendance for the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate Kincardine’s salt industry.
Expecting to be officially recognized, they unceremoniously unveiled the plaque, themselves, after the official program ended. Hopefully, a few of the hundreds in attendance that day in the park noticed the plaque.
A bouquet to Heritage Kincardine for making the effort to keep the town’s history alive. A brick to council for failing to acknowledge the contributions of Heritage Kincardine.
Nothing is done to encourage volunteers in this community.
