​Giving Cruise Day raises $52,000 despite rainy Cruise Night

The skies may have opened, but so did the hearts of the Kincardine and area community, raising more than $52,000 during the Giving Cruise Night donation challenge, June 27 - even after the Cruise Night festivities were cut short by a thunderstorm and rain less than two hours into the event!

The $25,000 matching donation challenge was generously sponsored by Todd and Stephanie Farrell whose commitment inspired other community members to stop by the tent, helping push the capital campaign closer to its ambitious $18-million target.

Giving Cruise Day supports the Building Health Care for Generations campaign which is dedicated to funding the local share of the Kincardine Hospital redevelopment and expansion project, and the addition of a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine.

Stephanie Farrell, a health-care professional and the newest member of the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation board of directors, is proud of the response.

“It’s amazing what we accomplished in less than two hours,” she said. “The people in our community didn’t let the rain stop them, and the MRI will make a real difference for patients here in Kincardine.”
