Bruce County hosting inaugural Cultural Symposium, Oct. 8
Bruce County is hosting its first-ever Cultural Symposium, Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Chesley Community Centre, dedicating the day to celebrating and strengthening local arts, heritage and community connections.

The theme of the event is “Common Ground: Connecting Through Culture in Bruce County.” It will offer a unique opportunity for artists, cultural organizations, community members and leaders to gather, share ideas, and explore ways to enrich the county’s vibrant cultural landscape.

Agenda:

  • Keynote speaker, Heather Keam, will give a presentation on the culture of volunteerism and the essential contributions of volunteers in sustaining and growing initiatives in rural communities.
  • Hear from local leaders, engage in a facilitated networking session and enjoy a complimentary lunch provided by Bruud Coffee Bar.
  • Local artist and community collaborator Heather Travis will lead a networking session, providing hands-on support to help expand your personal network and build meaningful connections.
  • Local youth will facilitate small group discussions about culture and community.

“The Cultural Symposium is a powerful gathering of voices, ideas, and creative energy,” says Brooke McLean, director of library services. “Through dialogue and collaboration, we’re strengthening the role of arts and culture in the social and economic fabric of our communities.”
