Kids Clothing Drive assists about 50 families in Kincardine
About 50 families were assisted through the Kids Clothing Drive, with distribution of clothes and United Way of Bruce Grey school backpacks held Aug. 14-15 at Knox Presbyterian Church in Kincardine.

A total of 51 adults and 37 children attended the clothing drive, said organizer Wendy Cox, noting there were two couples, and the others were single adults.

There were 86 backpacks requested on the list from the United Way. Of those, 49 were picked up and an additional 29 were given out to families that hadn't made it onto the list for a variety of reasons, said Cox, with a total of 78 backpacks distributed.

Since there are still 37 backpacks to be picked up from the original list, the United Way sent an emergency second shipment to ensure the needs can be met, as requested, said Cox. These will be available for pick-up at the Kincardine Good Food Box day, Aug. 28.

In 2024, 66 United Way backpacks were distributed through Knox Church in Kincardine, said Cox. This year’s need is expected to double that number.
