INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN CHARGES

(GODERICH, ON) - July 31, members of the Huron County OPP investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Town of Goderich.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed criminal acts against their partner.

A 43-year-old individual of Goderich was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:
 
  • Assault with a Weapon - Spousal
  • Mischief - Domestic
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

The accused was processed and later released with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, Sept. 8.

COLLISION RESULTS IN MULTIPLE CRIMINAL DRIVING CHARGES

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township resident with multiple criminal driving offences following a single-vehicle collision in the township.

Just after 7:35 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, Huron County OPP officers responded to the report of a single-vehicle collision involving a dirt bike on Berry Avenue in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. The driver was located nearby with minor injuries. Police arrested the driver for impaired operation and dangerous driving and also discovered the driver was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle. Police discovered that the accused had been operating a second motor vehicle after consuming alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Eldon WOOD, 24, of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with:
 
  • Dangerous Operation - (two counts)
  • Impaired Operation - Alcohol and Drug - (two counts)
  • Impaired Operation - Over 80 (two counts)
  • Operation while Prohibited - (two counts)

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, Sept. 15.

THEFT OF COPPER WIRE IN GODERICH

(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County OPP is investigating the theft of copper wire in Goderich that occurred sometime in August.

Aug. 11, Huron County OPP officers were contacted by Erth Power staff in Goderich who reported the theft of copper wire from nine hydro poles on Parsons Court. The value of the wire is several hundred dollars; however, the cost of repair to the poles is estimated to be much more than that.

MISCHIEF TO VEHICLE RESULTS IN CHARGE

(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged an individual following an incident that took place in the Town of Goderich earlier this month.

Just after 3 p.m., Aug. 14, police were contacted to investigate damage to a vehicle window caused by an individual, on Mooney Street in Goderich. Police located the individual who was arrested shortly after for the offence of Mischief.

Jonathan VITORINO, 35, of Goderich has been charged with Mischief Under $5,000.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, Sept. 22.
