Huron Shores Hospice launches new grief support program for teens
Grief can be especially challenging for young people. Teens often process loss differently than adults, and without the right support, feelings of isolation and confusion can grow.

Huron Shores Hospice has launched a new weekly virtual grief support program for teens (ages 13–19), providing a safe, steady, and supportive space where they can connect, share, and navigate their emotions with peers who truly understand.

Facilitated by Eugene Dufour, support and education co-ordinator at the hospice, each session includes introductions, check-ins, and exploration of themes that matter most to the group. This is a regular, ongoing program, giving teens a reliable space to turn to as they work through their grief.

Program details:

  • Format: On-line via Zoom
  • Open group: Join anytime; pre-registration is required
  • Time: Weekday evenings, 7-8:30 p.m.

The hospice will also be introducing sessions for adults who support young people through grief — parents, teachers, coaches, or any caring adult. If you’re interested in learning how to better support a teen experiencing loss, Dufour would be happy to notify you when these sessions become available.

Share this program opportunity with any teens in your life who might benefit from steady support, and with any adults who want to help guide them through this journey.

For more information or to register, contact Dufour at eugene@huronshoreshospice.ca or call 519-385-5787.
