Bruce Hilton, formerly of Kincardine, dies at the age of 61
Bruce Wayne Hilton, formerly of Kincardine, died Sept. 8, 2015, surrounded by his family, after a short but fierce battle with cancer. He was 61.
Survived by his beloved partner, Tammy Mougenot; his daughters, Amanda (Michael) and Dawna (Bryon); his step-children, Zach (Alyssa) and Brodie; as well as his siblings, Teresa (Derwin) and Gerald.
He will be forever missed by his grandchildren, Christopher and Rayna Whitney, who were the greatest joy of his life.
Predeceased by his parents, Garnet and Orillia “O’Dell” (née Stoffregen).
Bruce was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan, July 23, 1964, and grew up as a lover of the outdoors, strongly influenced by his father, Garnet, who instilled in him an incredible work ethic, but always made time for fishing. His Mom passed on a passion for homemade food and a penchant for detail. Over the years, they lived in Kamsack, Kashabowie, and everywhere in between.
After a few years working on the railroad with his Dad, following his graduation from high school, Bruce attended Confederation College in Thunder Bay and graduated top of his class in electrical engineering. He soon relocated to Kincardine upon being hired at Ontario Hydro, later known as Bruce Power, where he worked faithfully for the next 28 years.
Anyone who knows Bruce, knows that he loved certain things in life: golf (he shot an 82 on a good day), hot peppers (you name it, he grew it by the 100s), bacon (in absolutely everything), and lists. He could typically be found in his backyard, puttering, with his faithful dog, Norman, by his side and the tunes cranked.
His love for Tammy and “his girls” was absolutely limitless. Despite his (endless) quirks, they loved him that much and more. His perfect counterpart, Tammy kept him in check and yet, brought the fun out of him like nobody else could. He taught his daughters the value of a dollar, the maximum amount of time a family can spend in a car, and all the words to “Mr. Blue Sky.”
He has left us far too soon, but we will forever be grateful for the time we had. We couldn’t forget him if we tried.
The family thanks the incredible staff members at Carpenter Hospice in Burlington for their compassionate care.
A celebration of Bruce's life will take place at Ainsdale Golf Course, 2264 Huron Township, Concession 12, Kincardine, Sept. 28, 2025, from 1-4 p.m. There will be a small service to begin and any family, friends and acquaintances are welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you and sharing our memories.
