Lucknow condo fire temporarily displaces 50 residents, says fire chief
About 50 residents of a multi-unit residential building in Lucknow were temporarily displaced, this morning (Sept. 10), when fire broke out in the structure at 550 Montgomery Lane.
Huron-Kinloss fire chief Jeff Bradley said the township’s fire and emergency services were dispatched, following reports of smoke from one of the units. Fire crews arrived and initiated a swift and co-ordinated response, successfully containing the fire and preventing it from spreading. Mutual aid partners, the South Bruce OPP and Victim Services provided critical support during the operation.
As a safety precaution, approximately 50 residents were temporarily displaced, said Bradley. A shelter was quickly established, and township staff provided immediate support services. By 1 p.m., it was deemed safe for all residents to return home.
There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to community safety, we encourage all residents to regularly install, test, and replace smoke alarms,” said Bradley. “These simple actions save lives.”
The township extends sincere gratitude to all first-responders for their professionalism and dedication, and to the community for its patience and co-operation during the incident.
