Kincardine Radiothon set for Friday, Sept. 19, at Sobeys
The Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation is gearing up for the annual Kincardine Hospital Radiothon, set for Friday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the parking lot at Sobeys Kincardine.
The Kincardine Lions will be hosting a barbecue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with proceeds raised through donations.
The foundation sends heartfelt gratitude to the Kincardine Legion for its generous donation of $7,700 toward one of the Radiothon items, a blanket warmer. This specialized cabinet is essential for heating and storing blankets and linens, helping to maintain normal body temperature for patients before, during, and after medical procedures, as well as for those who are ill, injured, or recovering from surgery.
The Radiothon will also be raising funds for a portable ultrasound machine, valued at $60,900. These machines are invaluable for rapid, on-the-spot diagnostics and guiding medical procedures in various settings, including emergency, critical, and primary care. Their portability allows for immediate patient assessment at the bedside, eliminating the need for patients to visit a dedicated imaging department.
The foundation deeply appreciates the generosity and ongoing support of the community and the many individuals, businesses, corporations, groups and organizations that donate during the Radiothon. Over the years, these contributions have gone toward the purchase of hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical equipment for the Kincardine Hospital.
Specifically, the support during the past three Radiothons has helped the foundation acquire a digital X-ray machine, hematology analyzer, chemistry analyzer, cardiac monitors/defibrillators and pacers, and IV pumps.
The foundation thanks everyone for the continued commitment to improving health care in the community, and hopes to see you all at this year’s Radiothon!
