Knox Kincardine to host Burlington Welsh Male Chorus, Oct. 4
Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine, has announced that the Burlington Welsh Male Chorus will be performing a concert at the church, Saturday, Oct. 4, beginning at 7 p.m. This is the fourth and final musical concert for 2025 and as a special feature, the chorus will be joined by Kincardine’s own talented musical group, the H&H Trio.
The chorus was established in 2001 and has 47 active members. Its distinctive sound is achieved by singing in four-part harmony, consistent with Welsh male choirs. The group has performed not only throughout Ontario but also in Britain and the United States.
In April, 2024, the chorus presented several concerts in Britain, with the final concert at Royal Albert Hall in London in front of an audience of 5,000.
For 17 years, the group has had a superb music director in Janice Beninger and an accomplished pianist in Larisa Gulenco.
The chorus will be singing a wide variety of songs, ranging from traditional Welsh selections, such as “Men of Harlech,” to inspiration songs, such as “The Prayer,” and popular music, such as “Tribute to Matt Monro.”
The H&H Trio will share its love of music with such songs as “Fields of Gold” and “This Little Light of Mine.” Without any doubt, it will be an entertaining and memorable music experience.
The Burlington Welsh Male Chorus proudly states, We sing:
- Hymns - Because of our chapel background
- Folk songs - Because of our heritage
- Spirituals - Because we admire the style
- Popular songs - Because we like them
- Opera - Because we have delusions of grandeur
Tickets for the concert are $25 each; available at:
- Knox Church (345 Durham Street) from 9 a.m. to Noon, Monday to Friday
- The Loop (806 Queen Street) in downtown Kincardine
- At the door
