South Bruce OPP report impaired drivers; stolen truck; and careless driving charge

ARREST MADE AT TRAFFIC STOP

(KINCARDINE, ON) - Sept. 11, at approximately 11:10 p.m., a member of the South Bruce OPP stopped to check a vehicle on Queen Street, Kincardine, after observing a Highway Traffic Act violation.

The investigating officer spoke with the driver and detected signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the South Bruce OPP detachment for further testing.

Ryan HOOVER, 32, of Kincardine, was charged with:
 

• Operation while impaired - B.A.C. 80-plus, CC 320.14(1)(b)
• Red light - proceed before green, HTA 144(18)

The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Walkerton, Oct. 22, to answer to the charge.

CONCERNED CALLER REPORTS IMPAIRED DRIVER

(KINCARDINE, ON) - Sept. 14, at 11:31 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received a traffic complaint from a business address along King Street in Tiverton, after a vehicle was observed entering the parking lot and parking diagonally in a space. The driver was asked by staff to leave the premises but refused to do so.

Officers attended where they spoke with the driver and detected signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the South Bruce OPP detachment for further testing.

Lucy DINUNZIO, 52, of Toronto, was charged with:
 

• Operation while impaired - B.A.C. 80-plus, CC 320.14(1)(b)
• Dangerous operation, CC 320.13(1)

The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Walkerton, Oct. 22, to answer to the charge.

TRUCK STOLEN FROM FIRE SCENE

(BROCKTON, ON) - Sept. 14, at 7:47 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a vehicle fire on B Line, south of Highway 21, in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

Investigation revealed that a blue pick-up truck was involved in a collision and became engulfed in flames. The occupant of the truck fled into the bush, then re-emerged to steal the truck of a nearby resident who stopped to assist. The stolen vehicle was last observed travelling northbound at a high rate of speed, driven by a shirtless man with possible burn wounds.

Police are searching for a black 2002 GMC Sierra, bearing Ontario Licence No. CA25996, with a bright silver hood and tonneau cover.

CHARGES LAID IN MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION BACK IN MARCH

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - A resident of Owen Sound has been charged careless driving, after investigation into a motor vehicle collision, back in March, in Arran-Elderslie.

March 7, at approximately 7:50 a.m., the South Bruce OPP and Grey Bruce OPP, along with the Arran-Elderslie Fire Department, and Bruce County Paramedic Services responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian, on the Grey Bruce Line between Concession 2 and Concession 4, Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

A 28-year-old pedestrian of Aurora was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

After a thorough investigation by the South Bruce OPP, West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team, with assistance from the Ontario Ministry of Labour, a 21-year-old resident of Owen Sound has been charged with Careless driving causing bodily harm, HTA 130(3).

The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Provincial Offences Court, Walkerton, Oct. 7, to answer to the charge.
