Two local drivers charged with mischief, stunt-driving in Goderich

(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged two individuals, following incidents in Goderich last week.

Sept. 16, police were contacted by the Town of Goderich staff to investigate damage to property owned by the town in the Cove Beach area. Video surveillance in the area caught two different drivers performing stunts with their vehicles in the parking area near Cove Beach Sept. 13.

Police identified and later located the two individuals responsible, and they were arrested for the offences of Mischief and Stunt-Driving.

Brooke HAYES, 23, of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with Mischief Under $5,000. The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. Nov. 24.

Damian PHILLIP-THRUPP, 22, of Central Huron has been charged with Mischief Under $5,000.
The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform Stunt.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, Nov. 24.

Police remind the public that the Town of Goderich utilizes CCTV video surveillance with cameras placed strategically throughout Goderich. The town will continue to work closely with the OPP to hold individuals accountable for any unlawful activity.
