​South Bruce OPP report impaired driver; and disturbance at music festival
DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER FLEEING FROM TRAFFIC STOP

(BROCKTON, ON) - Sept. 24, at 4:54 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver on Bruce County Road 1, south of Paisley.

Police located the vehicle and identified the driver, who then fled from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed. Police continued to receive additional driving complaints about this vehicle throughout the area, as it was being driven at high speeds and into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was later located at a residence along Bruce County Road 1 where the arrest was made.

Brett HAGAN, 21, of Brockton, was charged with:
 
  • Operation while impaired, CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Dangerous operation, CC 320.13(1)
  • Flight from peace officer, CC 320.17 - two counts
  • Driving while under suspension, HTA 53(1)
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available, LLCA 42(1)(b)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.

DISTURBANCE AT MUSIC FESTIVAL LEADS TO CHARGES

(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) - Aug. 23, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the South Bruce OPP was conducting patrols at an event grounds property in Lucknow during a weekend music festival. Officers were flagged down by site staff about a confrontation involving a couple of people at the event.

It is alleged that a pair of individuals deliberately exposed their genitals to a group of campers who were unknown to them and simply trying to enjoy the event. The two individuals were escorted from the venue and had their wristbands removed. Upon further investigation, officers discovered that the wristbands used to gain entry into the event were fraudulent.

Ryan MARRIAGE, 25, and Spencer CANTELON, 24, of Clinton, both face charges of:
 
  • Indecent act - CC 173(1)(a)
  • Fraud under $5,000 - CC 380(1)(b)

The accused are set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton, Oct. 29, to answer to the charges.
