Kincardine Legion Corner
Gord Brindley won $1,175 in this week’s
Catch the Ace draw. He chose Envelope No. 50 which contained the Three of Diamonds. The jackpot is growing and was sitting at $17,390, Wednesday. Every purchase of a Catch the Ace ticket is an investment back into our community, so be sure to pick up yours when you are at the Legion, or at any of our in-person retailers, including Kwik Way in Tiverton, Sleepers Bed Gallery, Jean’s Family Restaurant and InStyle Hair Studio.
Speaking of putting money back into our community,
Branch 183 made a $7,700 donation to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation at the Radiothon last Friday, toward a new blanket warmer which is a special cabinet for heating and storing blankets and linens, helping to maintain normal body temperature for patients before, during, and after medical procedures.

At the
Saturday Meat Draw, we had a triple-dipper and a double-dipper. Carolyn Hamilton won three prizes. We know she is good with balancing numbers, as she is our Legion treasurer, but apparently, she is also good at ‘picking’ good draw numbers. Hailey Allen won two prizes, so congratulations to both winners. Hang in there, Pierrette, you will be back in the winner’s circle soon, I’m sure. Heather Roppel was the 50/50 draw winner and took home $170 – congratulations, Heather!
I won’t go into too much detail this week on the
Early Bird Membership Campaign, you know what to do ... renew soon and SAVE! If you have any questions or need help, just see Kim.
Another reminder for our veterans and their families. Our
Provincial Service Officer will be visiting us sometime between Oct. 22-24. This year, those veterans wishing to see Rebecca must pre-register by Sept, 26. If you wish to see the PSO, or know a vet who does, register at the Legion office or contact our Veterans Services Officer, Dave Carson, by E-mail at
sailorkit@gmail.com.
There are still a few tickets remaining for our
third annual Lulu’s Band Hootenanny, Sept. 27. Cost is $40 each. Also, we are wishing all the golfers the best this Sunday at the
Branch Golf Tournament!
A big thank you to our
Legion Colour Party for leading the Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS) football team out onto the field in Tiverton, last Friday. The Legion is a proud sponsor and if you are thinking of attending a game, you can find the team’s schedule on the TV above the bar.

The next
Trivia Night is Friday, Oct. 3. We will have guest Quiz Master, Todd Thompson, hosting the night, so get your team signed up! We will be offering wings and burgers between 5-7 p.m., after which the trivia starts. Note: you don’t have to be playing trivia that night to come and get some food; it is open to everyone!
Finally, looking ahead as
Remembrance Day approaches, the Legion will once again be holding our annual Poppy Campaign. More details will follow, of course, but we wanted to mention that we will have poppy centres available to purchase ($1 each), wrist bands ($5 each), metal lawn poppies ($20 each), and lawn signs in two styles ($25 each). Watch for a post on our Facebook page with some photos of these items. All money raised goes toward supporting our veterans.
As for
Remembrance Day ceremonies, there will be one in Tiverton, Sunday, Nov. 9, and then at the Kincardine Legion, Nov. 11. Mark those dates on your calendars.
