PRWIN presents environmental awards of merit at Ripley-Huron Fall Fair
The Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN) has presented its environmental awards of merit, recognizing volunteers who have helped the organization in its mission of “clean water and a healthy eco-system within the Pine River watershed.”
The awards were presented by director Murray Yungblut, at the Ripley-Huron Fall Fair, Friday night, during the ambassador pageant.
This year’s awards showcased the importance of community volunteering and the connection with local youth, and went to local business owner Gary Moulton, and to the 2nd Kincardine Scouts.
GARY MOULTON
Moulton has owned and operated his construction company for almost five years.
He has always been a great participant to help with any PRWIN construction projects, such as the sponsorship sign located at Pine River Cheese. He has been a great volunteer with the Potted Tree Ash Replacement Program, and upkeep of the rain garden at the Ripley Library.
Moulton has been the maintenance volunteer at the McLarty Education Centre, cutting the grass on the trails and pruning back pathways. He was involved with Scouts in his younger years and enjoyed the outdoor education class in high school.
His interest with PRWIN’s environmental projects has ensured the organization’s work as a good steward of the watershed.

2ND KINCARDINE SCOUTS
The 2nd Kincardine Scouts have grown into a thriving group of around 50 youth and 15 dedicated Scouters, after being formed in January, 2022.
The Scouts are deeply committed to environmental stewardship and community involvement. From tree-planting and community clean-ups to participating in local parades and events, their presence has been a positive force in the Kincardine area.
These young people are not only learning valuable life skills, they’re also making a real impact on the world around them.
The Scouts have great programming ideas and solid leadership. They participate in monthly meetings that are filled with outdoor activities, encouraging community involvement.
