Purple Grove news
So another Ripley-Huron Fall Fair is in the history books and a great show it was! Congratulations and Thank you to President Kevin Falconer and all the Board and the many volunteers who help put everything together! We also congratulate our Senior Ambassador Emery Harper and Junior Ambassador Kelsey Thompson and look forward to hearing of their activities this year!

The Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN) recognized community volunteer Gary Moulton for his dedication to the Pine River and maintenance of the sites, and also to the 2nd
Kincardine Scouts who have planted trees with PRWIN for many years!

Congratulations to Joan Gillespie on receiving the Ripley Agricultural Society's Award of Merit for her work with the agricultural society especially on the fruits and vegetables committee and with other
community organizations, especially the Bruce County Plowmen's Association and Kincardine United Church.

A big thank you from the Purple Grove Women's Institute for all the support of cookies, muffins and donations in the social room on the Saturday of the Ripley-Huron Fall Fair! Hope you saw some friends and had some time visiting too!

Several people were down to the International Plowing Match in Grassie, from Sept. 16-20, and enjoyed all the activities there. The Bruce County delegation was there in full force, of course, promoting its hosting of the 2026 IPM near Walkerton! Looking forward to all the activities planned for it too! Saturday, seven farms were visited in the Walkerton, Cargill and Teeswater area for the next fund-raiser. You could also have supper at the Chepstow Lions Park after the tour!

Happy Birthday greetings to a lot of friends and family in the area and beyond! Belated birthday wishes to Jayne Dietrich, Jerry Logtenberg, Irene West, Carolyn Meurs, Glen Farrell, Jamie Farrell, Dominic Gemmell, Carol Shantz, Elizabeth Cubberley, and especially, to Bert Piel who is celebrating his 80th, Carl Stanley, his 70th, and Margery MacDonald who is just 95 years young! Enjoy your cake and ice cream too!

We extend our sympathy to the family of Ann Finlayson who died recently. Ann was very involved with the Ripley-Huron Legion, Ripley Horticultural Society and Kincardine Quilt Guild and had a multitude of friends in the area. A graveside service will be held in Fergus.

John and Mary Farrell recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary!

Folks from the area took in Lucknow's Kites in the Field display on the weekend, with lots of very interesting kites to be seen and enjoyed! Thanks for the show!

The Purple Grove Women’s Institute meeting is tomorrow (Wednesday, Oct. 1) at 7 p.m., in the Penetangore Room at the Davidson Centre, Kincardine. Guest speaker is award-winning photographer Sandy Nelson. Bring your favourite photo and get some pointers on taking great photos!
