Kincardine Rotary holding Sharecrows fund-raiser for food bank, hospital foundation
The Rotary Club of Kincardine is hosting a fund-raiser in support of the Kincardine Food Bank and the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation.
The event is called “Sharecrows” and the concept is fairly straightforward. Business owners and individuals are invited to display a scarecrow at their address along with a bin to collect non-perishable food donations. Registration occurs before Oct. 11 on the website at
kincardine-rotary-club.sharecrows.org.
If you have a great Halloween display, add a scarecrow, register to be on the map, and let others enjoy seeing your display while supporting the food bank!
Once the Rotary Club receives all of the registrations, it will create a map that will be available both on-line and at five local businesses for an optional donation.
From Oct. 20-31, the scarecrows will be displayed, with the map being used to find the scarecrows at each home/school/business in the community, such as a scavenger hunt.
Saturday afternoon, Nov. 1, the food donations will be dropped off at the food bank, while the money collected from the maps will be donated to the hospital foundation. Saugeen Shores has done this for the past five years and it keeps growing every year.
