South Bruce OPP report collision; fail-to-remain incidents; and impaired ATV rider
DRIVER AIR-LIFTED FROM OFF-ROAD COLLISION
(MUNICIPALITY OF SOUTH BRUCE, ON) - Oct. 13, at approximately 8:10 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a motor vehicle collision at an address along Sideroad 40, Municipality of South Bruce.
Police attended with Bruce County Paramedic Services and South Bruce Fire Rescue to discover a passenger vehicle had struck a tree at a residential property. The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old resident of South Bruce, was air-lifted to a London-area trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE WITH FAIL-TO-REMAIN COLLISION
(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) - Oct. 12, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a fail-to-remain collision at the intersection of Bruce County Road 17 and B Line, Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.
A passenger vehicle was travelling along the county road when a pick-up truck went through the Stop sign at B Line and struck the vehicle. The truck fled the scene.
Dash camera footage captured the collision, and police are looking to identify a
unique vehicle (below): a light-coloured pick-up truck, possibly a Dodge Ram 2500, aftermarket lighting to grill and undercarriage. It will likely have some degree of front-end damage.
INFORMATION SOUGHT FOLLOWING FAIL-TO-REMAIN COLLISION
(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) - Oct. 4, at 6:36 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a collision in the area of Highway 21 and Concession 2, Township of Huron-Kinloss.
Police attended the scene to learn that a pick-up truck had struck a hydro pole and fled the scene with assistance from another individual. Vehicles were last seen travelling westbound on Concession 2 toward Point Clark. Police are looking for further information on the
following two vehicles (below):
- Dark blue late model pick-up truck, possibly a GMC or Dodge. Airbags were deployed, damage to front end and passenger side doors. Male driver approximately 40-50 years old, wearing a white and blue plaid short-sleeve button-up shirt and dark coloured jeans.
- Light-coloured GMC pick-up truck with cap. Male driver approximately 40-50 years old, wearing a baseball cap, short-sleeve shirt and jean shorts.
ATV RIDER ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED
(BROCKTON, ON) - An All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) operator was arrested for impaired driving after being stopped by the South Bruce OPP.
Oct. 4, at approximately 6:35 p.m., a member of the South Bruce OPP was parked along Colborne Street South in Walkerton and observed an ATV emerge from an alleyway and onto the roadway. The officer noticed the rider was not wearing a helmet, did not have a number plate affixed to the ATV, and failed to stop for a Stop sign.
A traffic stop was initiated, the officer spoke with the rider and detected signs of impairment. The rider was placed under arrest and transported for further testing.
Sean COMYN, 25, of Walkerton, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired - B.A.C. 80-plus, CC 320.14(1)(b)
- Driving while under suspension, HTA 53(1)
- No helmet, HTAReg 316 19(1)
- Off-road vehicle no number plate, ORVA 3(1)
The accused is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton, Nov. 5, to answer to the charges.
