Trio of Lucknow-area residents in charge of 2028 Lucknow Reunion
Lucknow-area residents Tracey Simpson, Morten Jakobsen and Cheryl Johnston have been appointed co-chairpersons of the Lucknow Reunion, set to take place June 30 to July 3, 2028, commemorating the village’s 170th anniversary.
They will be overseeing the event and are currently seeking volunteers to join the planning committee.
“We’re thrilled to be working together and spearheading the committee for what’s sure to be an incredible four days of fun,” said Johnston. “Glen Gibson and Luke Smith, who were co-chairmen of the last edition in 2018, left some big shoes to fill but we’re excited to work together with our volunteers and the entire community in making the 2028 Lucknow Reunion another unforgettable experience!”
Simpson (nee McDonagh) was born and raised in Lucknow and now resides on a farm west of the village. She has served as a member of the Lucknow Kinette Club for more than 40 years, in addition to working on the committees for Lucknow’s Music in the Fields, the Huron-Bruce Minor Hockey Association, and several past editions of the Lucknow Reunion.
Jakobsen and his family immigrated to the Lucknow area from Denmark in 2003. he’s the founder and chief executive officer of Protekta Inc., a multi-national distributor of agricultural products that promotes livestock welfare. He has served as a member of the Lucknow Revitalization committee, the Lucknow Kinsmen, and is a past-president of the Lucknow Chamber of Commerce.
Originally from the Hamilton/Brantford area, Johnston married a Lucknow native and moved to the village to start her family in 2008. She is currently a real estate broker with lake Range Realty and volunteers her time for numerous community initiatives, including Lucknow’s Music in the Fields, the Huron-Bruce Minor Hockey Association and the Huron-Bruce Minor Hockey Parents’ Auxiliary.
The co-chairpersons were selected during an initial public planning meeting, June 16, with many other community members volunteering their time and service in advance of the 2028 event.
A second public meeting was slated for today (Oct. 22) at 7 p.m., at the Lucknow Arena. Anyone interested in participating in the reunion or learning more about the event, is invited to attend or contact the committee via E-mail at
