Kincardine Bulldogs notch one win, three losses in PJHL action
The Kincardine Bulldogs notched one win and three losses over the past two weeks and are sitting in sixth place in the Pollock Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League, just ahead of the Walkerton Capitals.

Oct. 17, Kincardine travelled to Mount Forest and came home on the short end of a 3-2 score. Goal-scorers were Tristan Steven from Zasha Ortman and Kale Liddle; and Tyler Kelly from Carson Stutzman.

Bulldogs goalie Nathan Penman made 26 saves on 29 shots.

Oct. 19, in Fergus, the ‘Dogs lost, 5-2, with both goals scored by Ty McQuillin, with assists to Liam Doherty and Tyler Wagler.

Kincardine goalie Blake Beitz made 33 saves on 38 shots. The ‘Dogs had 14 shots on goal, compared to 38 by the Whalers.

Saturday night, the Bulldogs took on the Hanover Barons at the Davidson Centre, during Hockey Day in Kincardine, and lost a close game, 4-3.

Hanover opened the scoring midway in the first period, and added two more quick goals to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

Kincardine fought back in the second, as Grayden McKnight scored on the powerplay, from Kelly and Cole Lewis.

Hanover made it a 4-1 game, early in the third period, and Kincardine desperately tried to make a come-back, on goals by Jared Houghton from Lewis and Kelly; and Kelly from Bryce Martin and Lewis, but the clock ran out and the Barons took the 4-3 win.

Penman made 43 saves on 47 shots. Kincardine had only 19 shots on goal, compared to 47 by Hanover.

Sunday, the ‘Dogs travelled to Mitchell and finally came home with a win, 5-4.

The Hawks opened the scoring in the first period, before Cody Frook tied it up for Kincardine, assisted by Kelly and Maddox Burgess.

Mitchell went ahead again, but Keaton Vander Hoek tied it up again, scoring from Martin.

The Hawks made it a 3-2 game early in the second, but Kincardine again tied it at 3-3, on a goal by Wagler from Kelly. Moments later, Mitchell scored to end the period at 4-3.

However, just minutes into the third frame, the ‘Dogs tied it at 4-4, and then with less than a minute remaining, Nathan Lavender scored the game-winner from Houghton and Cooper Schneider, to take the 5-4 win.

Penman made 32 saves on 36 shots.

The Bulldogs are in Hanover on Halloween night for an 8 p.m. game. And the next four games are all at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine: Nov. 7 against Wingham at 8:30 p.m., Nov. 8 against Mount Forest at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 15 against Mitchell at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 16 against Walkerton at 4 p.m.
