“Yellow Birds” is next print in Kincardine Hospital Auxiliary fund-raiser
“Yellow Birds” by Nova Scotian artist Maud Lewis, is the next print in the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine Hospital Auxiliary's Art/Easel Program fund-raiser, on display at Sobeys Kincardine.
This painting features three yellow birds perched among some soft pink-and-white flowering branches and the background is a vivid blue sky. This artwork by Lewis beautifully captures her bright, colourful and cheerful folk art style.
The second print on display at Sobeys, is entitled, “Three Mile Lake Near Burk’s Falls,” by Canadian artist J.W. Beatty. This piece depicts a serene fall scene, circa 1934, near Three Mile Lake located near the Village of Burk’s Fall in northern Ontario. Beatty was associated with some of the members of the Group of Seven and recognized for his landscapes, especially when Algonquin Park became a theme of nationalistic pride.
The print at the Kincardine Hospital is entitled, “Street Fall Scene” by Katerina Mertikas.
The print at Rona Kincardine is entitled, “Rush Platinum Album.”
The print at Boston Pizza in Kincardine is entitled, “Mother Moon,” by Indigenous artist Betty Albert.”
The starting bid for all the prints is $215, and they are on display until Thursday, Nov. 27.
