Sunny, cold and windy for Kincardine Legion Remembrance Day Ceremony in Tiverton
It was sunny, cold and windy as about 100 people gathered, Sunday afternoon, for the Kincardine Legion Remembrance Day Ceremony in Tiverton.

The Colour Party marched into position in front of the Cenotaph. The flags were carried by Dave Dechene, Kevin Martin, Mike Dupuis, Nicole Chessell and John Farrell, under the direction of sergeant-at-arms Kirk Rutledge.

MC Dave Carson welcomed everyone. The crowd sang “O Canada,” followed by “The Last Post” played by Ray Kester, two minutes of silence, “The Lament” played by Jennifer Farrell of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band, and then “Reveille” played by Kester.

Numerous wreaths were placed by groups, organizations, individuals and businesses, including Our Fallen Comrades, the Kincardine Legion, Dominion of Canada, Province of Ontario, County of Bruce, Municipality of Kincardine, and the Royal Canadian Legion, Ferris Branch 430, Tiverton.

The service ended with a benediction by Legion chaplain Rev. Eric Williams, and the singing of “God Save the King.”

Members of the Kincardine Air Cadets provided assistance throughout the ceremony.

A community Remembrance Day ceremony was held Tuesday morning in Tiverton, as well as the ringing of the peace bell Tuesday evening.

The Kincardine Legion Remembrance Day service was held in the Legion Hall, Tuesday morning, followed by the ceremony at the Cenotaph. The ringing of the peace bell was held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Kincardine, Tuesday night.
